Take care of yourself: The average temperature for June in San Juan is 82°F; the average high is 89°F and the average low is 75°F. Remember to drink lots of water and wear sunscreen.
Time Zone: Puerto Rico is in the Atlantic Time Zone, but does not observe Daylight Savings Time. That means that we’re on the same time as cities in the Eastern Time Zone which are currently observing Daylight Savings.
Smoke-Free: Smoking in all public places is against the law in Puerto Rico. Smoking is prohibited in virtually all enclosed spaces, including restaurants, clubs, discos, casinos, bars, buildings, shopping centers, businesses, elevators, public transportation, and ambulances.

Avoid pickpockets! Use travelers checks and carry only the cash and credit cards you will need. Do not flash around cash and do not discuss plans with strangers.
Sightseeing. Ask directions from SEIU Host Local volunteers (in the yellow shirts), hotel desk staff, police or traffic officers. Avoid asking strangers on the street.
Hotel Security. Familiarize yourself with the fire exit routes posted in your room. Deposit valuables in the hotel safe. Lock your luggage when it’s left in the room.
Lost or stolen credit cards. Keep a separate list of your credit cards and their phone numbers. Notify the police at once if your credit cards have been lost or stolen.
Shopping: There are no customs duties on articles bought in Puerto Rico and taken to the U.S. mainland. The currency of Puerto Rico is the U.S. dollar, making purchases on the island hassle free.
