Community Projects
Photojournalism Workshop ( Taller Fotoperiodismo )
SEIU is sponsoring 100 children to participate in a photo and video journalism program. Kids will learn skills in photography and video, documenting SEIU members in their workplaces. At the end of the program, each child will receive a digital camera. Their work will be displayed at the Convention.

Living in Peace Project ( Convivir en Paz )
Local 1996SPT has launched a successful mediation training project in public schools to deal with the problem of youth violence. The SEIU team works closely with the current five schools in the program, engaging the school community as a whole (students, teachers, parents, social workers) to examine ways to reduce violence.
